Block cantonal holidays automatically

In Switzerland, only 1 August is a statutory public holiday throughout the country. All other public holidays are set by the cantons, and in some cases by the municipalities. Zitli knows the public holidays of all 26 cantons and blocks them for you, so no one books on a public holiday.

Choosing your canton

1. Open Settings › Holidays.
2. Choose your canton.
3. Zitli shows the upcoming public holidays. Days that are turned on are blocked for bookings.

You can also choose the canton when setting up your account («Where do you work?»). What usually matters is the canton where you work, not that of your clients. In addition to the 26 cantons, there is the option «Schweiz · Suisse · Svizzera» with the four days that all cantons have in common.

Three kinds of days

• Statutory: a statutory public holiday throughout the canton. Turned on.
• «Customary»: not statutory, but many businesses stay closed. Turned on, with the label «Customary».
• «Not everywhere»: applies only in some municipalities or districts. Turned on if most of the canton observes it, otherwise turned off.

You can turn each day on or off individually, for example if you do work on a public holiday or your municipality has an additional public holiday.

Half days

Half days are not blocked. 24 and 31 December are listed but turned off. Turn them on to keep the whole day free, or add a date override for the afternoon only under Availability.

What your clients see

On the booking page, a public holiday is shown like any other unavailable day, with a small dot. Below the month, the public holidays are listed with date and name, with a note that no appointments can be booked on these days. The names appear in the canton's main language (Zurich in German, Geneva in French, Ticino in Italian).

Appointments that are already booked

If you newly block a public holiday, appointments already booked on that day remain in place. Zitli shows you on the Overview when this is the case.
